See Jane Write
December 28, 2007
Jane Austen is more than just another classic Chick Lit author. Sure, her books feature spirited heroines who speak their minds, get into embarassing situations for speaking their minds (or meddling in someone else’s business, we’re looking at you, Emma), and finally, end up with the man who loves her for all her faults and quirks.
The careful Reader is rewarded with biting social commentary, some ribald humor and a rousing good story with realistic characters full of flaws and warmth.
Spend the first month of the year, Janeuary, exploring all things Austenesque–from food to film, sequels to scholarship. We hope to cover it all in January with help from fellow Jane-philes at KCPT and the local chapter of JASNA, the Jane Austen Society of North America.
All you Jane-iacs are welcome to join us. Drop me a line at kaitestover@kclibrary.org and I will most happily add you to the contributor’s list.
I can’t wait for the events to begin!!! I just hope Mother Nature is on our side.
